Before actually becoming a profitable content creator, there are 4 mindset shifts you need that will help make your journey smoother and guarantee success.

Here are these mindsets that will prove to be a game-changer once you start making content.

Mindset 1: Strategic Thinking

Content creation is not just making videos on YouTube and Instagram. Putting pictures, creating stories, and designing posts on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok is just the front end of the content.

That’s not what a pro content creator focuses on.

Amateur content creators create content for followers, likes, and fame.

While a strategic content creator always thinks about becoming profitable from the beginning.

A strategic thinker has an entire roadmap before they embark on their content creation journey.

There are two forms of content: Frontend content and Backend content.

Frontend content is publicly available for everyone. These are your posts on Instagram, Stories, videos on YouTube and Facebook, and blog posts.

Backend content is an exclusive form of content. It’s only for people who sign up for it in exchange for payment or their email addresses. This type of content includes Masterclasses, Online Courses, Talks, Consultations, etc. That’s where the actual value of content creation lies.

Ideally, you want to be focusing on backend content. And using your frontend content just to drive traffic to your more valuable exclusive backend content.

So the first mindset is to understand that a pro content creator is strategic in thinking from the beginning.

Mindset 2: Evergreen Content >>> Viral Content

The mindset of a viral content creator is that hopefully one day my video goes viral, I’ll have lots of followers and I’ll be famous.

Nobody focuses on strategizing for the evergreen content which is so important for your profitable content creation journey.

If you Google “how to create viral content?”, you will get a lot of results showing the components of viral content.

Out of millions of people who follow those components, only 1% will ever be able to successfully create viral content. It’s a strategy of hope.

On the other hand, evergreen content can be predictably strategized. It is timeless which means that even after 5 years of creation, it stays relevant.

You can search for the top ten books of the decade on Google or Amazon. You will be surprised to see that most of them are based on topics that were relevant a few years back and are relevant today, and will be relevant in the upcoming years as well.

Whenever I create content for any of my personal brands, I strategize it with the mindset that it stays relevant even for five years from now.

Evergreen content has a shelf life of years and it establishes you as a Thought Leader in your field.

Mindset 3: Value-Based Content

Value-based content is built on the first principle of human psychology. According to that principle, humans want to get better mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Everything that’s based on these aspects is what I call Value-Based Content.

Most of the viral content you see every day on your social media, you don’t remember after a few days. Why? Because it’s not based on the first principles of human psychology.

On the other hand, if you had read a book, learned a skill from YouTube, took an online, picked up something from Instagram that has helped you to manage your time better, you end up following that person forever and keep getting the value from their content because they have helped you become better in some way.

That’s the exact mindset you need to have when you are about to start your content creation journey.

Value-based content appreciates your brand value over time and people associate you as a Thought Leader in the field.

It builds your credibility and you gain the trust of people. This leads them to pay for the valuable content you’re creating.

This is the opposite of what will happen if you try gimmicky content. Even if it works, and you gain followers, you will not be a profitable content creator. People won’t associate you with someone who improves their lives.

You will not become a profitable content creator and your brand value will diminish.

If you are someone who is making gimmicky content, your only chance to succeed is that hopefully someday your ad revenue will increase enough that you will be able to become a full-time digital nomad.

But, that’s not a strategy. As the quote goes, “Hope is not a strategy”.

Mindset 4: Hundred Pieces To Success

Once you have created 100 pieces of evergreen value-based content, YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.

Each piece of evergreen value-based content takes effort. Because it is thoughtful, independent of the form of media, timeless, and adds value to other people’s lives.

It might even take 6 months to a year to create these 100 pieces of content. That is okay because you’re working on becoming a profitable content creator and you can make mistakes in your learning stage.

During the first stage of success in your journey of creating 100 pieces of content, you will start getting invites to webinars by institutions, podcasts, Instagram lives, and free collaborations. All these free things will add credibility and authority to your portfolio. You will soon be seen as a Thought Leader in your field.

Eventually, the audience of your value-based content will increase, and it will accelerate your brand growth.

At stage two, which happens within or immediately after 100 pieces of content, you will start creating your backend paid products that can include Masterclasses, Courses, and 1-on-1 coaching.

At that point in time, you will become location independent and start earning on your own rather than a 9-5 job.

Once you have 100 pieces of content and you’re earning through your paid profitable content, you will enter the third stage.

Finally, in the third stage, you will start getting invited by the educational institutions, cooperates, governments, and other organizations that will pay you to train their staff.

That’s where the magic happens; you start traveling the world and making money by working for your own self.

Once you have internalized these four mindsets, the next step is to learn to create evergreen content.

As I mentioned in this article, evergreen content is the way to go if you want to become a profitable content creator.
